Sam Konstas Career
Domestic Career
Sam Konstas made his first-class debut against Tasmania in November in the year 2023. Then in December 2023, he signed his first professional contract for the Sydney Thunder. Konstas scored his first century in first-class cricket against South Australia on October 8 2024, where he scored 152 runs off 241 balls. Then he made his second century in the second innings of the same match, as the very youngest player to do so in the Sheffield Shield since Ricky Ponting in the year 1993.
Then he made his List A debut playing for New South Wales against South Australia on 12 November 2024 during the 2024-25 One Day Cup. In December 2024, Konstas made his Big Bash League debut as a professional T20 debut playing for Sydney Thunder against Adelaide Strikers. Konstas in the third match of the 2024-24 Big Bash League season at Manuka Oval, Canberra. In the debut match, he scored the fastest fifty for the Sydney Thunder in Big Bash League history, from 20 deliveries, finishing with a score of 56 runs where he hit eight fours and two sixes.
International Career
In July 2023, Konstas was selected for the Australia under-19 team for a tour in England to compete against the England under-19 cricket team. In December 2023, Konstas was selected for the Australian team for the 2024 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He achieved a century against the West Indies, with 108 runs from 121 balls.
Following a strong beginning to the 2024-25 Sheffield Shield season, Konstas was chosen for the India A tour in Australia. He was subsequently picked for the Prime Minister’s XI match on December 1, 2024, against India A. In the limited encounter of forty-six overs for each team, Konstas made 107 runs off 97 balls, hitting 14 fours and a six against bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja.
On 20 December 2024, Konstas was included in the Australian 15-member Test squad for the Boxing Day Test against India. His Baggy green was given to him by ex-Australian Captain Mark Taylor. He was called up as a substitute for Nathan McSweeney prior to the fourth Test in the Border-Gavaskar series.
